American tenor Nathan Schafer has captivated audiences and critics alike with his "strong clear tenor voice" and his ability to sing with "clarity and warmth," (Ladue News in St. Louis) He is known for his impressive vocal technique, perfect spitfire coloratura and dynamic stage presence.
Mr. Schafer made his New York debut performing the role of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi at Finger Lakes Opera. He recently performed the challenging roles of Rodolfo in La bohème, Alfredo in La traviata and Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Shreveport Opera.
Mr. Schafer made his professional debut at Winter Opera of St. Louis as Ruggero in Puccini's La rondine, where critics described his voice as "perfect for the role." (Broadway World News) As a Bonfis-Stanton Apprentice Artist at Central City Opera he covered the role of Alfred in Die Fledermaus. That same year he was a Young Artist at Tulsa Opera covering the role of Hooker in Emmeline by Tobias Picker. Lastly, Mr. Schafer was invited to be a member of the Male Ensemble in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at The Dallas Opera in the 2020 season.
Mr. Schafer was recently the tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah at the Cathedral of St. John in Louisiana. He was the tenor soloist for the world premiere of Symphony 2 by Kermit Polling and a featured soloist for the 75th Anniversary Concert with the Shreveport Symphony. Mr. Schafer was the tenor soloist in Courcelle’s Temeroso with Orchestra of New Spain and has also been a featured soloist with the Abilene Philharmonic.
Mr. Schafer is a member of Andrea DelGiudice’s voice studio in New York City. He pursued his vocal studies at the University of North Texas where he performed the roles of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in La traviata, Luigi in Il tabarro, Canio in Pagliacci and Pirelli in Sweeney Todd.
